Starting point, and my counselor Jenny saved my life. Firm but fair - I was guided to the best life I've had in my adult life that I am living now. Jenny and Starting Point taught and imbedded in my daily life discipline, accountability; humility and acceptance. I am grateful beyond words. If you or someone you know is struggling with addiction you're doing a disservice by not living the best life you can be. When you're ready, let the staff at Starting Point help you live your best life.

Where to begin. At one point I thought I was just coming to Starting Point (SP) to appease the courts, little did I know it would be one of the most life changing events I had yet to experience. Just like anything new, we tend to form opinions & make assumptions based off of our first impressions & past history. I have been to a treatment facilities before, SP is nothing like the others. Private & Public treatment are in completely different categories. I spent 2 years with the folks here. Everyone was compassionate & genuinely sincere, even when I wasn’t completely upfront. I was able to get to know all of the staff, Sandy, Heather, Dee, Jeni & Dave. Each one of them was always willing to help, if I was willing to ask, whether it was the front desk, financial manager or counselors. I’ve had Jeni during my two years at SP and to say the least she is passionate about recovery & living a healthy life without any mind-altering substances, which you would expect from a drug & alcohol counselor. None of this would be doing her or her capabilities justice. I received so much more than that, because of her influence. She helped me peel back all the layers of pain, dishonesty, manipulation, selfishness, pride, resentment, people pleasing; just completely broken on the inside. Outside I looked great, but inside I was emotionally & spiritually rotting & completely distraught. I fought her tooth & nail, only giving just enough to appease her & the courts. She wouldn’t give up on me. Jeni has some of the greatest intuition that I have seen. She has this ability to sense what’s going on with you or have a teaching that would relate even though I never told her. She guided me to truly understand life isn’t about perfection but about progress. She taught me how to establish healthy boundaries & build a foundation that I can stand on & be proud of myself while living in long term recovery. Once I was willing to be open minded & I was sick of being sick & tired the world opened up & I learned how life is truly a journey not a destination. I learned how vulnerability is a great attribute. She is and will always be someone close to my recovery. Words would not describe the gratitude I have for Jeni & the team at Starting Point.

If you are searching for a treatment center, consider Starting Point. Since I was feeling a little lost and did not know where to start, my attorney, with forty years of experience of dealing with DUI’s, highly recommended Starting Point. He could not have been more right. While I initially expected a center that would go through the routine motions of a court ordered treatment, I quickly discovered that Starting Point is anything but that. In fact, after a few months, I found that while I was required to go to sessions, I found that I very much wanted and needed to go to sessions. When you walk in the door, you are treated with respect and compassion. There is no judgement, and this is one of the few places of refuge in my life. I was fortunate enough to have Jen as my counselor. Jen has a dynamic, energizing personality that is both refreshingly honest and needed for anyone that needs coaching or guidance in life, which is all of us. Jen’s primary objective is for clients to be honest with themselves, and Jen takes the time to listen to each client’s unique situation and intuitively guide us in the right direction. When we are going through turbulent and difficult times, Jen always has a good perspective and helps us get back on track. The group sessions are filled with candor, positive messages and lively conversation; the one-on-ones with Jen dig deeper. Whether in "no holds barred" group or individual sessions, afterwards I always, I always feel encouraged and breathe easier. I’m also thankful for all of the caring and compassionate counselors and employees whose professionalism and empathy have created an environment of genuine support. Heather, in particular, deserves the highest praise for her patience, kindness and grace. This program works if you are open and listen, and as with everything, you get out of it what you put in. I do not have experience or knowledge of other treatment centers, but I can wholeheartedly say that, after nearly two years of treatment, I am grateful that my court mandated two years were spent in a caring and productive program. I can say I have, for the first time in my life, broken the cycle, and found a new path in life.

I am beyond grateful that divine intervention lead me to Starting Point. I was blessed to have Jen as my counselor. She is one amazing lady! Through one on one counseling and group therapy as well, she works with you to design a plan for living a healthy clean and sober lifestyle. She has a kind, caring with a little bit of no BS approach. As long as you are honest open and willing to do the work and follow the suggestions, you will be given the tools you need to find a new attitude and outlook towards yourself, others and life. The rest of the staff there is great as well. I love them all!

Starting point really help me build a foundation to get healthy. Jen took time to work with me to get a program that would make me successful. They give you the tools you need to get your life on track but you also have to put the work in. It isn't always easy but they are there to help you along your journey. I highly recommend that if you are struggling to go there and get the help you need.

I enrolled in the deferred process at starting point for alcoholism. I received help through this program and in particular a counselor named Jen in ways I never knew I needed. I was welcomed on a friendly, nonjudgmental level that helped me break down all the walls that I had built around myself and get the help I needed and deserved. Thanks Starting Point and thank you Jen.

I believe that being able to connect with your counselor is very important, Jen and the way she teaches is very special she's a no holds barred kind of teacher, just what I need. It's my true belief if I would have gotten any other counselor I would have just gone through the motions, she has made me a new man that I didn't beieve existed

Starting Point is an effective, caring, and affordable, treatment program that is respected by the legal and court system. As a client of Starting Point for nearly two years, I have seen the success and progress of patients/clients to reach their goals of sobriety and to go on to have successful and meaningful lives without alcohol or drugs. Addiction is a treatable disease that causes destruction to its host and those around its host. Starting Point’s staff are knowledgeable and understanding of substance abuse and use proven methods and remedies to help their clients along the journey of dealing with their addictions. These solutions include counselling, but also nurtures in camaraderie among the clients, that they not only formulate trustworthiness to the councilor but to each other. These relationships build an environment of healing, belonging, and understanding. Jenine, my councilor, has an unique history and uses that intimate understanding of the disease to will or propel you to want to be a part of world she now enjoys. Some would call it tough love, but I call it compassion and a vocation to help those in her supervision. She knows the disease and what it can do to an individual. She supports her clients in the court system and works tirelessly for them to improve their private lives. She enjoys and respects her clients and holds them to a standard that they in turn hold each other to, she sets the tone for success. The other councilors have different methods that may or may not work for you, but will work for someone. Starting Point can match you with someone that will help you obtain sobriety, it won’t be easy, but it is obtainable and beats all the alternatives which is incarceration, loneliness and misery. No one is leaving this world alive, but you can leave it happy and free from addiction. When I see a negative review, as an alcoholic, I understand it is easier to blame someone else for your situation, but in the end, it is better to give Starting Point an opportunity to help you achieve sobriety and get you to a better place. I have made great friends via Starting Point and I now have a place where I can go and I am accepted, not because “I’m buying the next round”, but because I have earned it.

I have to say that this place is the best and most supportive place for anyone WANTING to get clean and sober. I have met with Dave, Dee, and Jen. They are all kind and caring however they hold you accountable for your words and actions. In reading Jessica Gonzales review, that sounds like someone who wasn't open minded to what treatment is about. It is not always nice and pretty. The counselors are there to keep it real and help those who want to be helped. I have witnessed so many transformations in the people who have attended Jens groups. Staying sober requires a lot of hard work and letting go of ego and self will. I walk away talking all I have learned and continue to learn, with an open mind and focus on the parts of me still needing work. This is a great place with caring people.

Jen Hildebrand is an amazing counselor. She has shown so many people how to live a sober life that is FULL and worthwhile. My eyes have been opened to a world that is joyful and has given me tools to handle the ups and downs of everyday life with grace and compassion. I would recommend her and Starting Point to anyone that is suffering with addiction. Don't let life pass you by - get the tools to be the only one in charge of your life.

Courteous and knowledgeable staff. Some previous negative reviews suggest that, they were given because people felt forced to be there. I felt the same. After some time, I have come to appreciate the energy that the staff puts into their job. My issues were what landed me there. Acceptance is key! These guys and gals ROCK!!

I was very nervous about entering into the two year deferred prosecution treatment program. When I went to Starting Point the ladies in the front office welcomed me and made me feel at ease. The gentleman who did my evaluation was very caring and comfortable to talk with and I decided to go to treatment there. My counselor Jen was amazing as she walked with me on this new journey and therefore I give Starting Point 5 stars
